Introduction
Recipe Studio ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our web application and services.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name (if provided). If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information from Google, including your name and email address.
Chef Content
We store recipes you create or save, meal plans, grocery lists, and your cooking preferences (such as dietary restrictions, skill level, and favorite cuisines) to personalize your experience.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you interact with our service, including pages visited and features used. For signed-in accounts, product analytics records actions such as recipe saves, favorites, meal-plan additions, onboarding milestones, and request outcomes, along with platform and first observed referral or campaign information. These analytics events do not include conversation text, recipe contents, or authentication tokens. We retain the first observed referral source and bounded campaign tags in browser storage for up to 30 days, and attach them to your account when you sign up or use the app while signed in.
Images
If you use our ingredient detection feature, images you upload are processed to identify ingredients and are not permanently stored after processing.
Sign in with Google
When you choose Sign in with Google, Recipe Studio requests your basic identity information: your Google account identifier, email address and its verification status, name, and profile picture when available. We use this information to create or identify your Recipe Studio account and authenticate your sign-in. This permission does not give Recipe Studio access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, calendar, or contacts.
Supabase processes and stores this account information for authentication. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes authenticated requests to serve the app. We do not sell Google account information or use it for targeted advertising. Signing in with Google does not authorize access to Google Workspace content for our AI cooking features; those features process the cooking preferences, messages, and images you provide in Recipe Studio.
We retain the account information while your Recipe Studio account is active. To request deletion of your account and its associated data, email privacy@recipe-studio.com from your account address. You can also revoke Recipe Studio’s access through your Google Account connections. Revoking Google access does not itself delete your Recipe Studio account or saved content. Security logs and provider backups may remain under the providers’ retention settings after account deletion.
Subscriptions and Purchase Records
Website payments are processed by Stripe. When Apple subscriptions are available in the iOS app, Apple processes those payments. We associate purchases with your Recipe Studio account identifier and store subscription identifiers, plan, billing period, renewal status, and verification timestamps to provide your generation allowance and restore access. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple receives an account identifier when you purchase so a subscription can be restored to the same Recipe Studio account. Account deletion removes our Apple subscription record but does not cancel billing with Apple; manage that subscription in your Apple account settings.

AI and Data Processing
Recipe Studio uses artificial intelligence (powered by Google Gemini) to generate recipes, provide cooking advice, and analyze ingredients from photos. Your conversations with our AI assistant and your cooking preferences are used to provide personalized responses. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it to train AI models outside of providing our service to you.
Public Recipe Discovery Integrations
When you use Recipe Studio’s public recipe discovery integration in ChatGPT or another compatible assistant, that host sends search keywords, optional cooking-time limits, or a selected recipe identifier to our server. The integration returns public recipe details, images, and source links. It does not require a Recipe Studio account, access private collections, or receive your Recipe Studio sign-in session. Avoid putting personal or sensitive information into recipe search keywords.
The integration’s operational tool logs record the tool name, success or failure, and duration, rather than search keywords or recipe content. Hosting providers also process request information under their own logging and retention settings. Your assistant host’s privacy policy applies to your conversation and the information it sends. Recipe links include campaign tags; opening them on our website is subject to the website analytics practices described above. The integration does not generate recipes or images or make purchases.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase - Authentication and database services
- Google - OAuth authentication, AI services (Gemini), and website analytics
- Vercel - Hosting and analytics
Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing their use of data.
Connected Recipe Tools
If you connect Recipe Studio to ChatGPT when account tools are available, the connection can read your saved recipes and perform the recipe actions you authorize. A save sends the selected recipe content to Recipe Studio; the integration does not automatically retrieve your conversation history. We store the recipe privately and send its food description to our image provider to create a generated photo. Failed image attempts retain a recoverable private draft. Publication makes the recipe accessible to anyone, and you can disconnect the integration from Saved recipes. Disconnecting does not delete recipes already saved or cancel a save you already requested.
Your Rights
You have the right to:

Advertising Measurement
If you arrive through an OpenAI ad and allow measurement, we store its click reference and your choice in this browser for up to 30 days. When you sign in, we associate that reference with your account for the remaining period. We report confirmed new registrations and successful initial paid website subscription checkouts to OpenAI, including an event identifier, time, our website origin, and the subscription amount and currency. We do not send names, email addresses, Google account information, recipes, dietary preferences, payment card details, or authentication tokens through this integration. We use the server API, without OpenAI’s browser pixel or automatic customer matching, and opt events out of future user-level personalization. This limited measurement does not identify every conversion.
You can decline without affecting the service. Withdrawing stops future reporting for your signed-in account once the preference syncs; it cannot recall events already delivered or in flight. Sign in to update the account preference across devices. Click references expire after 30 days; delivery records are retained for up to 90 days. OpenAI processes received events under its privacy policy.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your authentication session and remember your preferences. Optional advertising measurement uses browser storage as described above, rather than an advertising pixel.
Children's Privacy
Recipe Studio is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
