Spicy Thai Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow Gai)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground chicken
  • 1 cup Holy basil leaves
  • 2-4, depending on spice preference, finely chopped Thai chilies
  • 4 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 cups, for serving Cooked rice
  • 2, for serving Fried egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. 2Add minced garlic and chopped chilies to the wok and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. 3Add ground chicken to the wok and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned.
  4. 4In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
  5. 5Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and coated the chicken.
  6. 6Add holy basil leaves to the wok and stir-fry until wilted, about 30 seconds.
  7. 7Serve immediately over rice. Top with a fried egg, if desired.
